Winter Wedding at the Kananaskis Mountain Lodge

“I love you to Lake Louise and back!”

I first met Brittany and Ritchie just before sunrise on an unusually warm fall morning at Lake Louise, where along with my wife, I captured Ritchie’s surprise proposal. As you can probably imagine by the title of this story, Brittany did indeed say “yes”! Fast forward one year to an unusually chilly October afternoon, I arrived at the Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge ready to celebrate their love – along with their family and closest friends.

A few months earlier, Ritchie & Brittany officially got married in a small, intimate ceremony on the east coast of Canada. As part of the ceremony, the couple exchanged wedding bands – the groom’s has one of the coolest features I’ve seen thus far. Engraved into the gold ring is an outline of Mount Victoria and the entire vista seen from the foot of Lake Louise, traced from one of the images from their proposal!

A Special Place in the Shadow of the Mountains

With their official wedding ceremony taking place a few months prior, this evening was reserved to celebrate with everyone who has played a role in their lives, enjoy a nice dinner together, and party the night away!

Around lunch hour, the groom and his groomsmen were waiting in a large boardroom where we went through our getting ready festivities, which included having Ritchie’s larger wedding party help him with different elements of his suit, including socks dedicated to their family dogs, his suit jacket, bow tie, and his shoes. We then head down to capture Brittany and her bridesmaids prepare to begin the wedding celebrations.

As the afternoon drew on and the late fall sun set past the summit of Mount Kidd, the temperature outside quickly began to drop. We decided to move inside and stumbled upon the Pomeroy’s cafe, which was in the process of closing their doors for the day. To the barista who stayed past her closing time, allowing us to take some quick photos with warm beverages and warm hearts – thank you!
